ClipLaunch over MCP

An agent can make promos, short ads, shorts and long videos in your ClipLaunch studio, on your brand kits, and spend your credits. This page has the setup for each client, the tools with their prices, and what happens when a call is refused.

Connect your agent

The server is at https://cliplaunch.io/api/mcp. claude.ai, ChatGPT and Claude Code sign you in; you never handle a key. Cursor and Claude Desktop through mcp-remote can use an agent key, made under Settings, Agent access.

claude.ai

  1. Go to Customize, Connectors.
  2. Click + Add, then Add custom connector.
  3. Name it ClipLaunch, paste https://cliplaunch.io/api/mcp and click Continue.
  4. Leave the sign-in settings as Claude detected them and the OAuth client on its recommended choice, then click Add.
  5. Sign in to ClipLaunch in the window that opens and press Allow.

To use it in a chat, click + at the lower left, then Connectors, and turn ClipLaunch on. The connector also works in Claude Desktop. On Team and Enterprise plans an owner adds it under Organization settings, Connectors.

ChatGPT

  1. Open ChatGPT Plugins at chatgpt.com/plugins.
  2. Click +, then Add custom MCP server.
  3. Name it ClipLaunch. Under Connection, choose a public endpoint and paste https://cliplaunch.io/api/mcp.
  4. Choose OAuth for authentication, read the warning and select I understand and want to continue, then Create as a plugin.
  5. Sign in to ClipLaunch in the window that opens and press Allow.

Your account or workspace policy decides whether custom MCP servers can be added.

Claude Code

Add the server, then sign in. No key needed:

Claude Code, sign in
claude mcp add --transport http cliplaunch https://cliplaunch.io/api/mcp

Run /mcp inside Claude Code, pick cliplaunch and follow the browser sign-in, or run claude mcp login cliplaunch in your shell. To use a key instead, add it as a header:

Claude Code, with a key
claude mcp add --transport http cliplaunch https://cliplaunch.io/api/mcp --header "Authorization: Bearer clk_…"

Use one or the other. With an Authorization header set, Claude Code does not fall back to the sign-in.

Cursor

Add this to .cursor/mcp.json in a project, or ~/.cursor/mcp.json for every project. It holds a key, so keep it out of git.

Cursor mcp.json
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "cliplaunch": {
      "url": "https://cliplaunch.io/api/mcp",
      "headers": {
        "Authorization": "Bearer clk_…"
      }
    }
  }
}

Claude Desktop

The simplest way is the claude.ai connector above: once added there, it shows up in Claude Desktop. To use a key, run the server through mcp-remote in claude_desktop_config.json (Settings, Developer, Edit Config). The header value sits in env because Claude Desktop on Windows does not escape a space inside an argument.

claude_desktop_config.json
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "cliplaunch": {
      "command": "npx",
      "args": ["mcp-remote", "https://cliplaunch.io/api/mcp", "--header", "Authorization:${AUTH}"],
      "env": {
        "AUTH": "Bearer clk_…"
      }
    }
  }
}

mcp-remote can also sign you in with no key: leave out the header arguments and it opens the sign-in window.

A connected agent acts as you. It uses your brand kits and files and spends your credits, and it should tell you the price and wait for your yes before anything paid. See every connected app, and disconnect one, under Settings, Agent access. Prices are on the pricing page.

Make a promo

A promo is a 15 to 30 second studio-style video of a web app, a phone app, a new feature or a shop's product, made from its real screens. It is the one to start with.
  1. make_promo with the product's site or a brand kit. Call it with estimate_only first: it gives the price range and spends nothing. Tell the person and wait for their yes.
  2. The screens: the person's screenshots come in through add_screens, a recording through screens_from_recording, and public pages through capture_page. suggest_regions boxes the cards on a screen.
  3. The draft comes back in 9:16. get_promo shows what it has, what it needs, a still per scene and a watch link.
  4. update_promo changes the lines, the recipe or the screens. Only the scenes that changed are rendered again.
  5. render_promo renders the finals in the sizes the person picks. A 9:16 draft with nothing changed since is already its final.

Agents read prices before spending. estimate_cost prices a generation, and estimate_only on make_promo, update_promo, render_promo, animate_image, make_music, suggest_shorts and suggest_graphics prices that call. list_recipes lists the recipes:

  • SaaS or fintech web app

    A web app in the studio style: a kinetic hook, the name on the drop, up to three real features from the app's own screens, and a direct call to action.

    A first 9:16 draft: 43 to 49 credits

  • Mobile app

    A phone app: the hook, the name, the app in a phone frame, taps and lifted cards, and a call to action with store badges.

    A first 9:16 draft: 37 to 43 credits

  • Ecom product

    A product from its shop page: the hook, the real photo lifted off the page, its price or offer, its real rating and a review, more photos, and a call to shop.

    A first 9:16 draft: 40 to 46 credits

  • Feature launch

    A new feature: "New in X", the old screen and the new one, the feature in use, and a call to try it.

    A first 9:16 draft: 40 to 46 credits

Tool reference

61 tools, read from the server's own registry. The price beside each is what it costs in credits; "as estimate_cost says" means generation is priced as it is made.

add_graphicAdd a graphic to a long video

Price: 1 per started 2 s (3 full frame)

Adds a motion graphic to a long-form project, pinned to the transcript: it starts as the word at is said and ends with until (default its build plus 2 s). Checks the data against the template and, with check_against, every figure against the scene's script, before saving; then starts its render. Returns graphic_id, status (rendering, ready, failed with the error, or hidden with the reason), task_id for get_task, start_seconds and end_seconds in the finished video, and what to do next. Costs 1 credit per started 2 s of the graphic (3 full frame).

Inputs (8)
project_id string, required
From create_project
template string, required
A template from list_graphics
data object, required
The template's data, matching its data_schema in list_graphics

until union
The word it ends on; null for its build plus 2 s, at least 5 s (30 s at most)
beats union
One word per step (a worked sum's lines or a timeline's markers), in order: each step appears as its word is said. null for the template's own timing
check_against string
A scene id (its script, else its take's transcript) or the script's text: every figure in the data must appear in it

add_sceneAdd a scene

Ingest runs in the background (remux, clean audio, transcribe with filler words): poll get_task with the task_id. Costs 4 credits per started recorded minute, charged once ingest knows the length; get_task reports them. The newest take of a scene is used once it's ready.

job_token string, required

capture_pageCapture public pages for a promo

Price: 2 a page captured

Each card on the page is boxed and cropped; name cards by their visible text to be sure of them. states captures a card again with its big number or its chart bars hidden, so a scene can count the number up or grow the bars over the real empty card. actions click a tab or type into a search before capturing; flow captures a before and an after (typing into a search, opening a tab). Public pages only: it never signs in, and a page that asks for a sign-in fails; screens behind a login come from the person (uploads, or a recording with screens_from_recording). 2 credits a page captured. Runs in the background: returns a task_id for get_task.

make_promoMake a promo

Price: 3 per started 2 s of each scene not yet rendered, plus 10 per size (37 to 49 for a first 9:16); its gather pays for a brand import (2), 2 a page captured, screens and boxes as above

Makes a 15 to 30 s studio-style promo of a web app, a phone app, a new feature or a shop's product from its site or brand kit, in 9:16 first: brand kit (imported from the site if there is none, 2 credits), the app's screens, a recipe, the lines and the checks, then a draft. It needs real screens of the product: public pages of the app itself (app_pages, captured at 2 credits a page) or screenshots and recordings from the person. When it has too few, it renders nothing and says what it needs, with an upload link and a recording link; call it again with promo_id when they're in. The draft is priced per scene (3 credits per started 2 s, nothing for a scene already rendered) plus 10 to put it together: about 43 to 49 credits for a web app, 37 to 43 for a phone app, 40 to 46 for a feature launch and 40 to 46 for a shop's product for a first 9:16. A phone app takes phone screenshots, taps made from two screenshots (pairs) and store links; a feature launch takes the feature's name and a real screenshot from before it (old_screens); a shop's product takes its product page (product_page), or the person's photos, name and price (product). estimate_only gives the range first and spends nothing. Screenshots the person attached: in ChatGPT pass them in files; in Claude, add_screens shows an upload box in the chat, and get_promo's next has the other ways. Returns the promo as get_promo does.

Inputs (21)
url string
The product's public site, e.g. https://dividendmapper.com
brand_id string
Or a brand kit, by id or name
promo_id string
Carry on with this promo: new screens, or after a needs reply
recipe string
The recipe: saas (a web app), mobile (a phone app), feature-launch (a new feature of a product) or ecom (a product in an online shop). Left out, the tool picks from what it is given and says which
feature string
The new feature's name, as the product calls it (feature launch)
old_screens array
Screenshots of the product from before the feature, the same kind of screen as the new ones (feature launch); they are only ever shown as the before
pairs array
Up to 3 taps or clicks, each from two of the person's screenshots of the same screen (a phone app's tap scene, or a click on a web app): 2 credits each when made, nothing if the control isn't found
stores object
A phone app's store pages: the end card shows each store's badge
product_page union
The product's own page in the shop (ecom), e.g. https://shop.example/products/tote; captured with its photos, price and rating at 2 credits. null takes it off the promo
product object
The product as the person gives it: for marketplaces, or a shop capture can't read. Shown as given, marked as theirs. On a promo that has one, the fields left out are kept, even when the name changes: for another product, give each field (null for none)
other_products array
Up to 3 other product pages from the same shop, for the grid (ecom); 2 credits each
app_pages array
Up to 4 public pages that show the product itself working (a public demo, tool or dashboard page), never the home page, product marketing or pricing, and never a login page; captured at 2 credits a page. For an app behind a login, leave this out and ask the person for screenshots or the recording link
screens array
Up to 8 screenshots of the app, added to the brand kit
files array
ChatGPT only: images the person attached to the chat. Leave out in other apps

make_screen_sceneMake screen scene

Price: 5 credits

Show the real product: turn one of the brand's app screenshots into a short clip at the format's size, with a slow push-in or pan, inside a phone, tablet or browser frame (or full screen). 5 credits, no generation. Returns a task_id at once; the clip takes up to a minute, so follow with get_task. Its video_url goes straight into render_video as video.url.

Inputs (10)
brand_id string
A brand kit from list_brands (id or name). Brings the colours, fonts, logo, website and default copy (headline, call to action, small print); use instead of brand.
asset_id string
A screenshot in the brand kit (get_brand lists them). With brand_id and no asset_id or image, the kit's first screenshot.
image string
Or a stored screenshot (uploads/..., assets/...) or a public https image
format string, required
seconds number
motion string
push_in: slow move towards focus. pull_out: the reverse. pan_down / pan_up: drift down or up (a tall screenshot with device none scrolls). still: no movement.
device string
auto picks from the screenshot's shape: phone for tall, tablet for near-square, browser for wide. none fills the frame with the screenshot.
focus object
Where a push-in heads, as fractions of the frame; default the middle
status_bar boolean
Phone screens: true when the screenshot starts at the app's own header with no phone status bar (captured in a browser); a status bar in the header's colour goes above it, so the camera island doesn't cover the header.
caption_room string
Where the captions will go; the device leaves them a clear band. Default top on 9:16 (a bigger phone). Use bottom when the captions must sit at the bottom for the whole ad (joined with a lifestyle shot, say); the phone then also stays clear of the small print.

make_voiceoverMake voiceover

Price: 3 per started 100 characters (9 for gemini-kore)

Speak a script with an AI voice (3 credits per started 100 characters, 9 for gemini-kore), store it, and return word-timed caption segments. Pass voice to render_video and segments as captions.segments.

Inputs (6)
text string, required
The script. For a 5s video, about 11 words.
voice string
fable: Fable · British, warm; onyx: Onyx · deep, steady; nova: Nova · bright, friendly; shimmer: Shimmer · soft, clear; gemini-kore: Kore · follows the brand voice
brand_voice string
Delivery notes, used by voices that take them (gemini-kore)
start number
Where the voice starts on the output timeline (s)
video_seconds number
The clip's length: the result then says whether the timing works (pace, rushed last line, room for the end card)
end_card_seconds number
The end card you'll render after the clip; 0 for none

place_screenPut the real app on screen

Price: 5 credits

Put the brand's real screenshot on the phone or tablet screen in a lifestyle still or clip. Generate the still with green_screen: true (its screen comes out plain green), then place_screen on the still, or on the clip animate_image makes from it: the screen is found and followed in every frame and the app stays sharp, with hands in front of the screen kept in front. Returns checks: a phone that rocks or shakes in the clip (animate again), app text too small to read, frames where the screen was lost. 5 credits. A still comes back straight away; a clip returns a task_id at once, so follow with get_task.

Inputs (8)
job_token string
A finished image or video job_token (generate_assets with green_screen, or animate_image of that still)
image string
Or a still: stored path (assets/..., uploads/...) or public https
video string
Or a clip: stored path or public https MP4
brand_id string
A brand kit from list_brands (id or name). Brings the colours, fonts, logo, website and default copy (headline, call to action, small print); use instead of brand.
asset_id string
The screenshot to show, from the brand kit. With brand_id and no asset_id or screenshot, the kit's first screenshot.
screenshot string
Or a stored or public https screenshot
corners array
Stills only: the screen's corners as fractions of the image (top-left, top-right, bottom-right, bottom-left), when it isn't green
status_bar boolean
Phone screens: true when the screenshot starts at the app's own header with no phone status bar (captured in a browser); a status bar in the header's colour goes above it, so the camera island doesn't cover the header.

plan_shortPlan a short ad

Price: Free

Before writing a script for a short vertical ad: the timeline for a clip of video_seconds, with a word budget, where the hook, value and call to action go, and the held end card. With script, also says whether it fits. Free.

Inputs (3)
video_seconds number, required
The generated clip's length, e.g. 5 or 10
end_card_seconds number
0 for no end card (not recommended)
script string

preview_graphicPreview a graphic

Price: 1 a still

Checks a template's data at once (its schema, and with source_text every figure against the script), then takes stills of the animated graphic in the brand's colours and fonts (brand_id's kit, or with project_id the project's). Returns a task_id; get_task gives the stills' image URLs in about 10 to 30 seconds. 1 credit a still.

Inputs (7)
template string, required
A template from list_graphics
data object, required
The template's data, matching its data_schema
placement string
full replaces the picture; right, left and band are overlays (each template lists the ones it takes)
brand_id string
A brand kit from list_brands (id or name). Brings the colours, fonts, logo, website and default copy (headline, call to action, small print); use instead of brand.
project_id string
A long-form project: the stills use its brand kit, as its export will (brand_id, if also given, wins)
source_text string
The script the figures come from; every figure in the data must appear in it
at_seconds array
When to take stills, in seconds into the graphic; default the middle and the last frame

Inputs (2)
promo_id string, required
The promo's id
size string
The size to see (9:16 by default)

remove_graphicRemove a graphic

Price: Free

Inputs (2)
project_id string, required

From add_graphic or get_project

render_longExport long-form video

Price: 10 per started finished minute

Export the project as a 16:9 1080p MP4 with the brand's end card, subtitles as SRT/VTT files and audio levelled to -14 LUFS. Costs 10 credits per started finished minute, charged when it completes; max_credits refuses a longer export. Returns render_id for get_render. It needs every graphic rendered: while any isn't, it starts their renders and returns status graphics_not_ready with their task ids instead. Review the export two minutes at a time with review_render's from_seconds and to_seconds, or around_graphics to see each graphic.

Inputs (2)
project_id string, required
From create_project
max_credits integer
Refuse (start nothing) if the export's price in credits is above this: 10 per started finished minute

render_promoRender a promo's finals

Price: 3 per started 2 s of each scene not yet rendered, plus 10 per size (37 to 49 for a first 9:16); its gather pays for a brand import (2), 2 a page captured, screens and boxes as above

Renders the promo's final in the sizes you choose (9:16, 1:1, 4:5, 16:9) at 1080p, then checks each file. Each size is priced per scene (3 credits per started 2 s) plus 10 to put it together; the 9:16 draft is already its final, at no charge, if nothing changed since. Show the person each size's price (estimate_only) and let them choose. The balance must cover every size asked for, or nothing starts. review_render works on each final's render_id.

Inputs (4)
promo_id string, required
The promo's id
sizes array
The sizes to render (the promo's chosen sizes by default)
estimate_only boolean
Give each size's price and spend nothing
wait_seconds integer

Renders shorts as 9:16 MP4s with the brand's captions, hook title, logo, small print, music and end card: drafts at 720p to watch first, finals at 1080p (accepted shorts only; recorded in the project's exports). 15 credits a draft, 20 a final. Returns one task_id per short; get_task gives render_id and download_url in about 3 to 4 minutes.

Inputs (3)
project_id string, required
From create_project
moment_ids array, required
draft boolean
true: 720p to watch first; false: the 1080p final (accepted shorts only)

render_videoRender video

Price: 10 credits

Edit and export a video: keep/trim clips, loop, crop to the format, burn in brand-styled captions (safe-zone aware), mix a music or voiceover track with fades and ducking, export MP4/WebM at 720p/1080p/4K and 24/30/60fps. Returns a render_id immediately; follow with get_render.

logo_corner string
small_print string

cover_time number
Seconds into the output to take the cover image from; defaults to a quarter of the way in
output object
brand_id string
A brand kit from list_brands (id or name). Brings the colours, fonts, logo, website and default copy (headline, call to action, small print); use instead of brand.

review_renderReview a render

Price: 5 credits

Everything needed to check a finished render in one call: contact sheets of every frame (each stamped with its frame number), close-ups of the captions at every change (three frames in a row, to catch a blank or doubled caption), the end card, and a chart of the audio level with where the voice ends, the end card starts and the music fades, plus the level of each part. Returns the pictures inline with how to read each. 5 credits. It looks at up to 2 minutes at a time: review a longer video (a long-form export) in stretches with from_seconds and to_seconds, and the result says where the next stretch starts. For a long export's graphics, around_graphics looks at three frames of each (just after it appears, once it has built, just before it fades) in one call, however long the video. A long render can take a minute: if it says running, call again with the same arguments.

Inputs (5)
render_id string, required
from_seconds number
Start of the stretch to review, in the video's seconds; give to_seconds too. Leave both out for the whole video (up to 2 minutes)
to_seconds number
End of the stretch, at most 2 minutes after from_seconds and no later than the video's end
around_graphics boolean
Instead of every frame: three frames of each graphic of a long export, one graphic a row, however long the video. Not with from_seconds and to_seconds
images boolean
Send the pictures inline; false gives their links only

review_shotReview a shot

Price: 5 credits

A strict second look at a generated still or clip before you spend more on it: whether it matches the brief, where people are looking, whether a device screen can really be seen, hands and faces, stray text, and anything physically odd. Returns pass or fail per check and a prompt fix. Run it on every still before animate_image, and on every clip before render_video. 5 credits.

Inputs (5)
job_token string
A finished image or video job_token
image string
Or a still: stored path or public https
video string
Or a clip: stored path or public https (start, middle and end frames are checked)
brief string

green_screen boolean
The device screen is meant to be plain green (generated with green_screen)

Nothing is saved: each proposal's add_with is the add_graphic arguments that add it as it is; dropped says what was left out and why. 2 credits a call: use estimate_only first and tell the person the price. model is any gateway "provider/model" (default google/gemini-2.5-flash-lite).

The short-ads skill

A skill is a page of instructions your agent follows. This one teaches it to plan, make, check and fix a short vertical ad the way an editor would.

cliplaunch-short-ads.md is public: link it or paste it into your agent's skills.

When a call is refused

A refused paid call says why, with a code. Credits, plans and auto top-up are bought on the studio's /studio/billing page; the person does that, never the agent.
insufficient_credits
The balance is short. Tell the person the price and their balance, and stop. They buy credits or a plan on the Billing page; an agent never does.
generation_locked
Image and video generation unlock with the first purchase; the welcome credits cover our own features only. Tell the person to buy any pack or plan, then try again.
over_cap
The price is above the max_credits you passed, or the person's monthly auto top-up cap is used up. Ask the person before raising max_credits; the cap is theirs to raise on the Billing page.
owner_only_model
That model isn't open to this account. Pick another from list_models.
account_frozen
The account is frozen because of a payment dispute, so paid work waits. The person writes to hello@cliplaunch.io.
billing_unavailable
The credits database can't be reached. No job starts without a hold on credits, so nothing was spent. Try again shortly.
topup_failed
The card was declined or needs the person's approval, and auto top-up is now off. The message carries an invoice link for the person to pay; send it on as it is.
topup_pending
An automatic top-up is still being paid. Wait a minute and try again, and don't ask the person to buy more.
storage_over_quota
The person's files are over their plan's storage and the balance is 0, so uploads and renders wait. They buy credits or delete files.
exports_busy
As many long exports are running as the plan allows. Wait for one to finish with get_render, then export.
payments_off
Payments aren't set up on this server, so paid actions are refused. There is nothing to retry; tell the person.

Limits and how long files last

  • A long video is up to 15 minutes finished, at 1080p.
  • Long exports at once depend on the plan: 1 long export at once with no plan, then 1 long export at once on Creator, 2 long exports at once on Pro, 3 long exports at once on Studio.
  • Links to files that Higgsfield made last about 7 days. The studio's own copies, which need the same Authorization header the agent uses, stay until you delete them.
  • A failed or moderated render is refunded. Nothing is resubmitted for you.
